Four years ago, I was asked to develop a course which would assist mathematically challenged first generation college students from the Achieving a College Education Plus Program (ACE Plus)at GCC. With the assistance and dedication of student tutors and a wonderfully supportive ACE Plus staff, student grades improved dramatically, in fact rising well above the college average. The course has grown from its original one section of twenty-five students to the current ten sections, serving over 250 GCC students per semester.
